World market leader in the field of car recycling technologies, SEDA Umwelttechnik GmbH (Austria) in cooperation with BDSV (Bundesvereinigung Deutscher Stahlrecycling- und Entsorgungsunternehmen e.V.) will be welcoming their customers and partners at a major trade show IFAT dedicated to recycling of end-of-life vehicles (combustion engine & electric) from the 13th to the 17th of May 2024.

IFAT is the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw material management where international visitors will be able to watch live (3 times a day) the entire recycling process on 6,370 m2
of SEDA’s booth (Open Air Site Süd FS911).

SEDA will also be providing detailed information on each stage of handling and recycling of end-of-life vehicle. Industry experts together with the professional SEDA team will be available to answer questions and demonstrate new opportunities for recycling companies.

The initial station involves preparing end-of-life vehicles for efficient processing. First, a vehicle is put on a trolley for forklift-free processing. The information about a vehicle is recorded and managed via a software; then a battery is removed, wheels are dismantled, and tyres are separated from rims. The refrigerant is sucked out of air conditioning systems and pyrotechnic safety devices such as airbags and belt tensioners are triggered and deployed. Once the glass has been removed, the vehicle is prepared for draining.

Depollution/drainage of liquids takes place at the second station. On average, ca. 22 litres of hazardous fluids such as petrol, diesel, coolant, brake fluid, engine oil, transmission oil, hydraulic oil and windscreen washer fluid are contained in an end-of-life vehicle. Extensive experience has enabled SEDA to develop special systems and devices for easy and efficient extraction of all the fluids. The process is safe, and the fluids are clean and ready to provide for high quality recycling.

Dismantling is carried out at the third station. A tilting lift enables simple and ergonomic work on vehicles. Car parts are dismantled, refurbished, and resold.

High-voltage solutions for electric vehicle and accumulators are tackled at the fourth station. SEDA solutions for storage, transport and recycling ensure maximum safety when it comes to handling electric vehicles and high-voltage energy storage systems (lithium-ion accumulators, etc.).

To top it all, car presses and other machinery that is indispensable at a scrap yard will be demonstrated live at the show. An absolute highlight this year will certainly be Zato Blue Devil. This most robust twin-shaft shredder can handle a complete vehicle with ease.
