If the announcements of the European car manufacturers are to be believed, half of all new cars will be e-vehicles by 2025 at the latest. This change of direction is politically supported and can no longer be stopped. At the end of the chain, the recycling industry must now find ways to ensure that electric cars are also optimally recycled. Since the number of end-of-life electric vehicles or electric accident vehicles is currently still very low, the interest in recycling solutions is still manageable. 3. take-back system:<\/strong>\nDue to the risks that can emanate from an end-of-life vehicle, it is neither recommended or reasonable that the owner should transport the end-of-life vehicle to a collection point in order to be able to return it there.\nFor this reason, we have started a take-back system for Austria in cooperation with the \u201cAFZ Sammel- und Verwertungssystem\u201d from the Austrian Shredder as well as \u201cMUT Entsorgungsdienst GmbH\u201d.\n\nThis consists of 2 services:<\/strong>\na) Take-back:<\/strong>\nA nationwide take-back network has been deliberately avoided. Safety and competent handling are the main focus. At the start a so-called “at home pickup” is carried out. The customer can order the collection of an electric end-of-life vehicles by e-mail or phone. The collection takes place within 3 working days. The data is recorded in altauto.at (online scrap platform of the Austrian government), a certificate of utilization is issued and the further documentation to the government is guaranteed. A separate collection of lithium-ion batteries is also possible.\nb) Recycling:<\/strong>\nThe electric end-of-life vehicles will be treated according to the Austrian regulation and all other legal issues and safety regulations. The lithium-ion batteries removed in the process are subjected to further internal treatment, to achieve optimum recycling. The extracted components, fractions, liquids or substances will only be handed over to authorized disposal and recycling companies and the corresponding data will be recorded in altauto.at.
